The original Leuku Sami knife

Working with the natives we have redeveloped the Leuku Sami knife, going bakc in time to develop the Original leuku knife as it originally was formed in the past. Having its emphasise on a prolonged curved cutting edge that tapers all the way to the tip, and with a clip point falling off towards the centerline of the knife. The curves and lines of this knifes holds thousands of years of experience from the natives who use their knives on a daily basis in the raindeer herding, and by surviving in the harshest of environments on the frozen tundra in the winter months. This is the ultimate knife for hunting and fishing, and a general all round knife on the arctic tundra. Each knife is hand forged to shape, in order to center the grains towards the tip of the blade. And in order to balance the weight of the knife perfectly. The lines of the knife taper to all directions from its central balance point. 

The Nordic Natives knife comes in two sizes. The Stuoraniibi ( the large knife) and the Bárdni cuovgga ( The small knife). In ancient tradition it was custom to wear both a large and a small knife in pair as companion knifes. The Nordic Natives knifes are primarily made as working knives meant to be used. And they are individually hand forged from carbon spring steel. This leaves a practical and flexible steel, that is easy to maintain as it is used on a daily basis. The knife shall be simple and functional and cost efficient.

A Tamahagane knife will range around USD 4000 / NOK 40 000, and a Damascus knife will range around USD 2000 / NOK 20 000.

Each knife comes hand signed and with our Nepthun Spear forge mark. We use hive from local Raindeer, Elk and Moose. Solidity of hive depending on choice and size of knife.
